We create learning environments where students develop independence, accountability, and resilience through structured, self-directed learning.
Rather than being told what to do, students learn to take ownership of their thinking, their time, and their progress.
Structure
Clear systems guide how students learn, organize their work, and build consistent habits.
Ownership
Students take responsibility for their learning journey, making choices, solving problems, and developing confidence in their abilities.
Growth
Learning extends beyond academics. Students build life skills, explore their interests, and grow into capable, self-aware individuals.

He holds a BA (Hons) in Sculpture from Wimbledon College of Arts and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Goldsmiths, University of London.
Adam spent 18 years working in London academies, where he served as Head of Arts, leading co-educational departments to outstanding inspection results. He also leads the Visual Arts curriculum, supporting students in developing both their creative confidence and technical skills.

Diploma in Dance Studies, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance
Virginie grew up in the bohemian district of Montmartre in Paris, surrounded by a rich blend of culture, color, and creativity. Influenced by the area’s unique mix of art, fashion, cuisine, and literature, she developed an early passion for the creative industries and began her career working for Agnès b., a well-known name in French fashion.
Following this, Virginie was inspired to pursue her other great passion — contemporary dance — and moved to London to begin a second career. She trained at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, later becoming the principal of her own successful performing arts school, The New Malden Stagecoach School of the Performing Arts in South London.
After relocating to Mexico, the vibrancy of the country’s art, culture, and people inspired Virginie to launch her slow-fashion brand, VBM Studio, reflecting her continued commitment to creativity and design.
At The HeArt of Learning Centre, Virginie plays a central role in the daily life of the school. As Founding Director for Strategy and Development and Assistant Principal, she oversees student well-being and behaviour, ensuring a positive and supportive learning environment. She also leads the performing arts and creative curriculum, and works closely with our younger students (Grades 1–5), supporting their development both academically and personally.

Lyegge brings a rich and diverse background in education, communication, and international experience to her role as a Maths Learning Guide at The HeArt of Learning Centre. She has spent over a decade supporting students across Brazil, the United States, and Zimbabwe, developing a flexible approach that responds to the individual learning styles and needs of each student.
Fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, Lyegge combines strong organisational skills with a calm, presence-based teaching style that aligns closely with THOL’s philosophy of guiding rather than instructing. Her warmth, patience, and adaptability create a supportive environment in which students feel confident to engage, take ownership of their learning, and grow in independence.
With her cross-cultural experience and genuine commitment to personal development, Lyegge embodies the spirit of The HeArt of Learning—supporting students not only academically, but in developing the self-awareness and responsibility that underpin lifelong learning.
“Mathias is genuinely happy going to school and comes home every day excited to share what he’s learned. Having the ability to choose subjects has made a huge difference—his engagement and enthusiasm have grown noticeably.
He understands the material more clearly and benefits greatly from the support of the learning guides, who take the time to ensure he fully grasps each concept. Learning at his own pace, while clearly seeing his progress, has helped him take real ownership of his work.
Beyond academics, he is developing important life skills—managing his time, organizing his learning, and communicating effectively.
We truly believe that joining THOL has been one of the best decisions for his academic journey.”

“When I look back at all the struggles we faced trying to support a child with a different, highly creative mind, I feel deep gratitude for where we are today.
A mind like Luca’s learns through trust and empathy. Once these children feel truly seen and can trust the people around them, they thrive in their own unique way. They grasp ideas intuitively, from the inside out, which is why traditional step-by-step methods can feel limiting.
At Heart of Learning, I found exactly what we had been searching for: people who see beyond rigid systems. A place with knowledge, discipline, and heart, where children are supported as individuals and encouraged to develop their own abilities while respecting others.
Luca came to THOL unsure of his reading and writing. Today, he is more independent, more confident, and his writing has improved enormously. Most importantly, he has found his own path into learning.
For that, I am truly grateful.”

“Our boys attended THOL from 2019 to 2024, and we can genuinely say it worked incredibly well for both of them.
The daily setup of individual online learning alongside support from teacher guides was a big part of it. It gave them the structure they needed, while also helping them develop independence, self-management, and confidence in their learning.
Over time, we saw a significant shift in both boys — not only academically, but in the way they approached school and responsibility in their later grades.
Our oldest was able to complete Grade 12 online independently while living abroad, which helped him transition smoothly into university. Our youngest has also been able to manage high school independently, with plans to continue to university as well.
We’re very grateful for the role THOL played in helping them build these lifelong skills. It prepared them in ways that go far beyond academics.”

“Our children are excited to go each day and have discovered that learning can be both challenging and enjoyable. The personal attention, small group environment, and meaningful activities make a real difference. We couldn’t be happier with the experience.”
